The eagle is a popular national symbol; it is often an emblem for powerful nations — present in the coat of arms of Ghana, Poland, Romania, Mexico, Nigeria, and many other countries; the Roman, French, Austrian, German, and American peoples have all adopted this image as their symbol.

The eagle is a Christian symbol, also, representing salvation.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)
